Regular price £370.00

Faustus and Mousetopheles are a fantastically colourful, wild and kooky, one of a kind artist mouse and cat by Barbara Ann Bears, in cotton fabric, faux fur and mohair

Faustus stands 12.5 inches/31 cm tall and is 11 inches/27 cm sitting, his curly tail would be about 13 inches/33 cm long if it could be straightened out, but it's always going to be a curly tail, it was designed and sewn that way. Mousetopheles stands just 5 inches/12.5 cm tall and is 4 inches/10 cm sitting, his tail is 5.5 inches/14 cm long.

As you can see in the photos Faustus and Mousetopheles are the best of friends, which is quite unusual for a mouse and cat. They have a shared love of creating mischief, havoc and mayhem, you may find them sitting quietly together, but that's when you should be most worried, that's when they're plotting...

Faustus is mostly made from a very bright and colourful, monstrous cotton fabric, the final photo shows its detail as there's too much going on to describe succinctly and if I did describe it fully you and I both might have nightmares, for example, the most gruesome part is probably the purple lipped mouth with dagger like teeth and multiple tentacle tongues. The sides of Faustus' face are a very long pale pink mohair with a dusky lavender-pink backcloth and the top of his nose is a long, fluffy mohair hand dyed yellow. His tummy and the backs of his ears are a long faux fur in bands like a rainbow and on top of his head he has a long black faux fur with plumes of yellow, magenta and teal. Faustus' footpads are made from hand dyed velvet.

Faustus has large, beautiful, glass eyes which have been painted in gentle shades of green (like a cat's eyes) and these have hand coloured eyelids. He has an impressive nose embroidered from individual threads to match his colours and a quizzical smile. He is stuffed with plastic pellets and polyester stuffing to make him a little heavier and more cuddly. His tail has a joint at its base so you can twirl it around and pipe cleaners inside it which means that you can change its shape a little.

Mousetopheles is mostly made from a fairly short (quite long on a little mouse), stubbly sparse mohair that Barbara has dyed in oranges, yellows and violet and his tummy is a longer mohair dyed in shades of gold and orange. The sides of his face are made from a very long mohair dyed orange and the top of his face is a long mohair dyed yellow. The fronts of his ginormous ears and his paw pads are the same bright, gruesome fabric that Faustus is made from, it links them together very well, the top of his head is similar to the faux fur on Faustus' head, this time a long black faux fur with sprouts of yellow, orange, magenta and purple. Mousetopheles has a long orange pipe-cleaner tail which is wrapped with lilac cotton thread which makes it thinner and more flexible.

Mousetopheles has beautiful hand painted eyes with hand coloured eyelids, an intricately embroidered nose sewn from individual threads to match his colouring and the sweetest smile. Mousetopheles is stuffed with polyester stuffing with glass beads in his tummy which give him a little extra weight and squidginess.

Faustus is a wild and wonderful arty cat with a very sweet and mischievous personality. He loves to have fun playing with his little friend Mousetopheles, you can rest assured that they (nearly) always play nicely together, Mousetopheles might occasionally run up the curtains pursued by Faustus, or you might find Faustus looking under all your furniture, in your cupboards or rummaging through your bedding looking for his little friend, but that's a small price to pay for giving such delightful characters a home.

We will enclose photos with Faustus and Mousetopheles and we are happy to put in a greetings card and gift tags, maybe a birthday card or one for another occasion, you can choose one from our greetings card page and let us know which card you would like.
