Kandinsky is a happy and colourful vintage artist bear made from hand dyed mohair by Barbara Ann Bears, he is number one in an edition of three.
Kandinsky stands 14 inches/36cm tall and is 10 inches/25 cm sitting.
Kandinsky is one of older bears, he was made about over thirty years ago, in 1995 or 1996 although we have spruced him up a bit to make sure he's in tip-top condition.
Kandinsky is a very relaxed teddy bear, he isn't going anywhere fast, he's happy just to sit around waiting for a cake or scone to magically appear before him. You would think that with a name like 'Kandinsky' he would be a great fan of modern art, but he'll tell you "I suppose I was called that as my mohair looks a bit abstract, a bit arty farty, if I'd had my way I would have been called 'Another Cream Cake' then people would say "Another Cream Cake?" and I would of course reply " Thanks, I'll have two!" Kandinsky really loves a cream cake, or two. He was the first of an edition of three.
Kandinsky is made from a gorgeous, medium length, wavy ivory coloured mohair hand dyed by our good friend Dagmar Strunck in gold, peach, orange, red and lilac, with lines of black, Dagmar was an exceptionally talented and pioneering teddy bear artist, and artist, who sadly died in 2025, she is missed by many around the world. Kandinsky has beige ultrasuede paw pads which complement his colouring sympathetically.
Kandinsky has small pink glass eyes, a broad nose embroidered from individual threads to match his mohair (one of our first bears to feature this) and a big happy smile. He is stuffed almost entirely with polyester stuffing and plastic pellets to make him a little more cuddly and more posable. As with all our bears Kandinsky is 5-way jointed.
Kandinsky is a wonderful teddy bear, subtly coloured with a big happy smile, he's very easy to get along with (as long as there are cakes and scones on the menu) and will never talk to you about Abstract Expressionism, he doesn't even know what it is like all teddy bears.
