Ailsa Sunset is a beautifully coloured, sweet and slinky, one of a kind, artist bear in beautiful printed fabric and hand dyed mohair by Barbara-Ann Bears. She's a true artist bear, made from art.
Ailsa Sunset stands just 8.5 inches/21 cm tall and is 7 inches/ 17 cm sitting.
Ailsa Sunset was made in collaboration with our talented friend Paula Stanford-Marsh, the main fabric is a print of her beautiful painting of Ailsa Craig. Barbara used to look across to Ailsa Craig whilst she worked while living in Turnberry when we first moved to Scotland in the autumn of 2020. Watching the sun go down every day across the Firth of Clyde was an unforgettable experience and one we miss very much.
Ailsa Sunset is mostly made from the beautiful, cotton fabric described above, it has been backed with felt to give it greater strength and durability. Her face is a fairly long wispy mohair that is dyed a sunny yellow and the underside of her tail and the backs of her ears are a long and wispy mohair hand dyed in shades of orange. Ailsa has coordinating, hand dyed, velvet paw pads.
Ailsa Sunset has beautiful, gently sparkling hand painted eyes with hand coloured eyelids, an intricately embroidered nose sewn from individual threads to match her colouring and a broad, sweet smile, she's a very, very happy bear. Ailsa is stuffed with polyester stuffing and glass beads, these giving her a little extra weight and posability.
Ailsa Sunset is a bundle of fun and happiness, a bear of beautiful colouring and vivid personality, she's very easy to get along with and loves to be taken out to meet people and talk at length about curling, as all the world's curling stones are cut from the granite of Ailsa Craig.
We will enclose photos with Ailsa Sunset and we are happy to put in a greetings card and gift tags, maybe a birthday card or one for another occasion, you can choose one from our greetings card page and let us know which card you would like.
As with all our bears, Ailsa Sunset is not a toy, she is an adult collectible and unsuitable for children under 14.
