THIS IS THE PRINTED VERSION OF THE MAKEPEACE TEDDY BEAR PATTERN WHICH WE WILL SEND TO YOU IN THE POST
Makepeace PRINTED traditional jointed mohair teddy bear sewing pattern by Barbara-Ann Bears, used for Marigold's Teddy Bear in Downton Abbey
Makepeace is a sweet, little, old-fashioned Barbara-Ann Bear. Makepeace is about 10.5 inches/27cm tall, he has been designed to suit both
beginners and experienced teddy bear makers.
We've used this pattern to make bears in a variety of mohairs ranging from 3mm vintage mohair to 20mm sparse. Makepeace is an old style, traditional bear and he's fairly easy to make even for a beginner. The pieces fit together easily, there are no darts and no need to gather pieces in order to make them fit. He's a bear you can make in a comfortable chair while watching TV and suitable for sewing by hand or machine.
The pattern includes all the instructions you need to make your bear with lots diagrams for the more difficult parts, we have made the instructions particularly detailed to make it easier for beginners, it's a comfortable size to work on, not too big and not too small. The pattern is on 2 x A4 sheets and is full sized.
You'll need a 1/6 metre of mohair, paw pad material, 8mm shoe buttons for the eyes, or black glass eyes and 5 x 30mm joints. We use plastic pellets in the feet, hands, ankles, wrists and tummy to make him a little saggier and cuddly.
If you need any of the items necessary to make your bear, mohair, wool felt, eyes, sewing thread, strong button thread, bear making tools, polyester stuffing or glass beads, please contact us and we can supply what you need, you'll just need to pay for them separately.
A bear of this design was used in the TV series Downton Abbey, it was Marigold's teddy bear, it was a great thrill to see our little bear on television every week and we're really sad that the series has now ended.
Please note that the completed bear is not a toy and is unsuitable for children under the age of 14, it is a collector's bear.
