Melvin is an endearingly sweet and gentle, beautifully coloured, one of a kind, hand dyed mohair artist bear by Barbara-Ann Bears
Melvin stands 12 inches( 30 cm) tall and is 8.5 inches (21 cm) sitting, these measurements don't include his 2.5 inch (6 cm) long mohawk.
Melvin is a sweet and friendly teddy bear, yes, he has a mohawk that might lead some people to think that he's a dangerous punk with a dangerous attitude, but it's just the way his hair grows, it can happen, especially if you sew it that way. Melvin finds his mohawk useful when he's out in the woods looking for berries and acorns, he blends in so well with the forest foliage that his mohawk moving in the breeze might be the only thing you see. On the other hand you might never take Melvin to rummage around in the forest and might just admire his mohawk from the comfort of your favourite armchair, which seems like the better option all round.
Melvin is mostly made from a beautiful piece of medium length, slightly distressed hand dyed mohair, it's a very a subtle blend of greens, it might look uniform at first glance but the variations are enough to stop it looking drab, and who would want us ever to make a drab bear? As you can see Melvin has a plume of much longer brown tipped ginger mohair along the centre of his head forming a mohawk, or a mane. His velvet paw pads have been hand-dyed to complement his mohair.
Melvin's beautiful eyes were hand painted to match his mohair as were his hand coloured eyelids. His nose was embroidered with individual threads to match his colouring and he has a sweet and cheerful smile. Melvin is stuffed with plastic pellets and polyester stuffing which make him quite a heavy and cuddly chap.
Melvin is a calm and charming bear, a gentle soul in need of a loving home, he has a lovely warm smile and will be a great companion. He has a hopeful expression as if he is expecting someone to just run up to him and give him a big hug, he'd like that.
