Astrid Plunkwaffle, a happy, wild and loveable, one of a kind, hand dyed mohair artist bear by Barbara-Ann Bears

Astrid Plunkwaffle stands 10 inches (25 cm) tall and is 8 inches ( 20 cm) sitting, this doesn't include her beautiful mohawk which adds another 2.5 inches (6cm).

At first glance Astrid Plunkwaffle might appear to be a wild, rebellious bear, but it doesn't take long to realise that she is a sweetheart, a gentle soul who just likes a little pink punky fun. She has delicate colouring, yes there's some animal print and a lovely pink mohawk but it's all very understated, she's a little out of the ordinary but not too far out.

Astrid Plunkwaffle is mainly made from a subtly wavy, medium length beige mohair to which Barbara has added patches of pastel pink, blue, green and yellow. Her tummy, the fronts of her ears and the underside of her tail are a rosy pink faux fur with leopard-like spots in shades of dark brown and coffee. Along the centre of the top and back of her head she has a very pale pink mohair mohawk, well it could just as easily be described as a mane, like a horse's mane.

Astrid has hand dyed velvet paw pads which add a little to her exotic feel, she has beautiful hand painted eyes with eyelids, a splendid nose embroidered from individual threads to match her colouring and a beaming smile. Astrid is stuffed with polyester stuffing, plastic pellets and glass beads which give her a little extra weight and make her a little more cuddly. As with all our bears Astrid Plunkwaffle is 5-way jointed.

Astrid Plunkwaffle is a sweet and gentle bear with a hint of 'rebel'. Some might say (if they were particularly brave or stupid) that her tummy is a little plump, this is a definite design feature, she needs a low centre of gravity for improved cornering, you know, like a Ferrari, and to maintain this she has to eat a lot of cakes and pastries, and yes, even waffles (you could try this excuse at home), it all makes sense when you think about it.

Astrid is the first of her design, she started life as a very simple little doodle as you can see in the final photo, you can judge for yourself how much she looks like her original design
