Maximilian is an elegant traditional one of a kind, artist teddy bear in beautiful soft brown English mohair by Barbara Ann Bears

Maximilian is quite a large bear, he's 18.5 inches (47 cm) tall and is 14 inches (36 cm) sitting.

Maximilian is a wonderful, friendly traditional teddy bear. He seems like a very thoughtful bear, a bear who is mulling over the great problems of our time, how can you get the honey without being stung by the bees, do you put the cream on top of the jam or the jam on top of the cream when eating scones and how to you get people to give you a hug when you seem lost in thought?

Maximilian is made from some beautiful soft brown English mohair which came from one of our elderly bear making friends who offered it to us at a bear fair, we were most delighted. We used to make bears from this mohair in the mid-1990s and it's good to be working with it again, possibly for the last time as they stopped making it at the turn of the century. Maximilian was designed to be both a nice elegant bear and to utilise all the mohair, he was called Max as he was making maximum use of it. Maximilian has beige wool felt paw pads which blend with his mohair perfectly.

Maximilian has beautiful hand painted eyes, these were painted in pink and blue for a pink and blue bear but were accidentally cooked in the oven at a temperature suitable for pizzas and not hand painted eyes and as a result they came out in gorgeous shades of amber and brown, useless for a pink and blue bear but absolutely perfect for Max. Maximilian has a splendid, carefully embroidered brown nose and a relaxed and demure expression.

Maximilian is stuffed with a mixture of polyester stuffing and plastic pellets, giving him a cuddly and relaxed demeanour, comfortable and easy to pose and hug. As with all our bears he is 5-way jointed.

Maximilian is a charming and very friendly bear, he's definitely a bear who loves to think but he might just be thinking about how much he wants a hug so please interrupt him and give him a huge hug, he'd like that.

Maximilian is the first of his kind, we hope you like him, we think he's rather special.
